Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

Please only order the prescribed medications you need to prevent medicines being wasted.  Returned unused medicines can’t be reused.

From 1st April 2025, please provide five working days when ordering your repeat prescription.  The practice has its own dispensary, as there is no pharmacy in the area.  If you require a repeat prescription, you can:

1. Telephone the Surgery Dispensary on 01871 810333. An answering machine is in operation for recording your prescription request. Please ensure you give the names of the items you require and only order what you need. If you no longer use an item please let us know.

2. Alternatively you can order online at Patient Access, which offers a more secure system for online repeat prescriptions. Please note to click on the pink sign-in link for Patient Access.

Collecting your prescription

You can collect your prescription from the Practice five working days after you have made your request.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, our primary care pharmacist can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription. They can be contacted through the practice.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Safe disposal of old or unwanted medicines

Please return any old or unwanted medicines back to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Out-of-Hours

If you need help out with practice opening hours, contact NHS24 by calling 111.

Medication reviews

Please note that not all drugs can be repeated automatically, and you may be asked to see the doctor, pharmacist or nurse for a medication review. The dispensers will only issue repeat items or items prescribed by a doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Any unused medications should be returned to the surgery for safe disposal.

Over-the-counter Medications

The following over-the-counter medications are available in our local shops. This could mean that you can get what you need without having to wait, or travel, or needing to make an appointment at the surgery.

The surgery will continue to prescribe and issue medication as usual; this is an additional resource. Not all of our local shops stock all of the items, but they all stock most of them.
