Practice Nurse

If you have a long-term medical condition, you will be contacted by the Practice for a review.

If you think you have been missed from the recall programme, please let us know as soon as possible.ase let us know as soon as possible.

Other services provided

The following services are also provided at the Practice:

  • GP appointments
  • Appointments with First Contact Physiotherapist
  • Appointments with the Primary Care Pharmacist
  • Minor surgery
  • Contraceptive services including contraceptive implants
  • Cervical Screening
  • Sexual health

Non-NHS Services

Some services are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates.

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.  View our GP Fees for Non-NHS Services infosheet.

A&E

In the event of a medical emergency please call 999.

For medical advice please call St Brendan’s Hospital on 01871 812021.

There are no x-ray facilities on Barra.  Accident and emergency services are available at Uist and Barra Hospital, Balivanich, HS7 5LA.

Baby and Child Health

If you have any queries regarding your child’s health please contact the Health Visiting team on 01871 602266.

An appointment can be made to see you at the surgery or at home, whichever is more appropriate. Regular development checks are advised.

Ante-natal Care

The care of pregnant women is shared between the doctors and midwives.
